The alleged perpetrator of a serious assault on a young man during a fight last week in Xàbia has voluntarily surrendered this Sunday at the Civil Guard barracks. The handover occurred around 7:00 PM, following a laborious negotiation with local police officers.
According to police sources, officers dialogued for over two hours with the suspect, who was hiding in a house on La Pau street, the same location where the fight took place. They finally managed to convince him to voluntarily go to the barracks without resorting to force.
Local Police had already identified the alleged assailant shortly after he fled the scene, thanks to images captured by surveillance cameras in the area. The investigation to clarify the causes of the fight remains open.
In the altercation, a young man received a strong blow to the head with a blunt object, presumably an iron bar or a baseball bat. The victim fell unconscious and had to be urgently transferred to Dénia Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
