The socialist municipal group has denounced that the local administration did not use social media or usual information channels to communicate these charges. Furthermore, the voluntary payment period, which runs from March 2 to June 5 and includes these same bills, was also not announced.
“"We are talking about important fiscal obligations that affect both families and businesses and require minimal financial foresight."
The socialist spokesperson, Ximo Segarra, described it as “incomprehensible and irresponsible” that the governing team did not warn about these collections, especially considering that many taxpayers have their bills direct debited. Segarra warned that the lack of notice could lead to bank overdrafts or financial difficulties for families and businesses that have not been able to organize in advance.
The socialists reminded that, although the information is available on the electronic tax office, the reality is that most citizens do not access it unless strictly necessary. Therefore, they insist that it is the City Council's obligation to provide information in an accessible, clear, and proactive manner.
Likewise, they criticized that, while relevant information like this is not communicated, “municipal social media is constantly used for less important content.” They also denounced the high cost of institutional advertising for self-promotion, considering it even more serious when such basic issues are not informed.
“"Not informing about something so important is yet another lack of respect for the residents of Xàbia."
For the PSOE of Xàbia, this situation reveals “a worrying lack of planning and sensitivity towards the citizenry,” and they demand that the governing team establish effective communication mechanisms to prevent such situations from recurring.
