Teachers in Xàbia have set up 27 school desks on the Arenal promenade to protest classroom overcrowding and support the indefinite strike now in its third week.

Xàbia, known for its idyllic landscapes, hides a concerning educational reality. Today, on the Arenal promenade, the teaching community organized a visually striking protest: an open-air classroom with 27 desks set up facing the sea. The action aims to raise awareness among visitors, including foreigners, about the significant educational collapse the municipality is experiencing.
This mobilization supports a tough indefinite strike that is now in its third week, with the Ministry of Education having yet to accept most of the teachers' demands. The goal is to prevent situations like this from recurring, where teaching spaces must be improvised due to the impossibility of ensuring adequate classroom conditions.
The staging had a strong symbolic charge. Initially, the desks were presented empty, representing classrooms vacated due to the strike. Later, students and teachers joined, demonstrating the solidarity of the teaching staff with the students and their commitment to continue teaching despite current difficulties.
This action, which surprised many passers-by, including numerous tourists, aims to show the harsher side of Xàbia, far from the idyllic image presented in tourist brochures. It's an image that could gain media attention to highlight the real shortcomings of the town's educational centers.
A similar mobilization will take place tomorrow, Friday, in Dénia, specifically in the Plaza de la Constitución, replicating the strategy of making educational demands visible in emblematic locations.
