The Dénia City Council's plenary hall hosted today the first extraordinary session without former mayor Vicent Grimalt, with Rafa Carrió already leading the corporation.

The Dénia City Council's plenary hall presented an unusual scene in this morning's extraordinary session, marked by the start of a new political era without the presence of Vicent Grimalt, who submitted his resignation as mayor last Monday. Rafa Carrió, who will officially become the new mayor this Saturday, has already taken charge of the session.
The session stood out not only for Carrió's leadership but also for Grimalt's absence, as he formally remains a member of the city council. Furthermore, a significant number of opposition councillors also did not attend the meeting.
The 9 AM convening time for the plenary session might pose a challenge for opposition members, as many do not have full-time dedication and must balance their municipal duties with their jobs. Although some councillors might be absent on occasion, this time the majority were not present. Only four out of ten opposition councillors attended: Pepa Font and Esteban Chornet for the PP, Félix Redondo for Vox, and Mario Vidal for GD.
Adding to the six absences from the opposition is Grimalt's, resulting in only 14 out of the 21 members of the city council participating in the session.
