The ordinary council meeting for Rafa Carrió as mayor of Dénia began with technical setbacks. The microphones experienced feedback, emitting a shrill squeal reminiscent of a summer cicada. With patience, the mayor managed the situation until the public address system stabilized, emerging successfully from this technological hiccup. The session was very brief, lasting only 19 minutes.
During the meeting, the resignation of councilor Vicent Grimalt, who had served as mayor for the past 11 years, was acknowledged. Although the agenda item was to note the resignation, a surprising vote was held where all present gave their 'yes'. The next in line, Raquel Martín, declined to take up the councilor position for personal reasons, making way for Juan Sapena, who was previously part of the council in the last legislature.
The opposition did not present significant challenges to Carrió in this first encounter. The PP raised some questions regarding urban deficiencies, but overall, the session proceeded in a calm atmosphere. The only notable incident was the issue with the public address system, which tested the new mayor's composure.
