The cultural association Atzaïla, in collaboration with the Pego Town Council, has unveiled the program for the IX History and Heritage Days 2026. This edition, framed within the «2026 al-Azraq Year», focuses on the themes «750 years without the Blau» and «La Muntanyeta Verda, a window into Pego's roots».
The activities will take place during May and June, combining expert lectures at the Casa de Cultura Auditorium with guided excursions to explore local heritage firsthand.
The May program will begin on Friday, May 15, at the Casa de Cultura. At 7:00 PM, José Luis Menéndez will speak on «Andalusian castles in our regions», followed by Agustí Galiana at 8:00 PM with the conference «The Pouet Pact». On Saturday, May 16, an excursion to Alcalá Castle will be held, with a meeting point in front of Pego's old municipal slaughterhouse at 8:00 AM. Prior registration is required for this activity.
In June, on Friday, June 5, Ignasi Grau will give a talk on «La Muntanyeta Verda, a window into the Iberian world of Pego and les Valls» at 6:45 PM. Afterward, at 8:00 PM, Josep Bernabeu will discuss «The importance of spices in the legacy of Andalusian cuisine». The cycle will conclude on Saturday, June 6, with a guided visit to the Muntanyeta Verda archaeological site, also led by Ignasi Grau, meeting at the site's parking lot at 9:00 AM. This visit also requires registration.
