The town of Ondara is preparing for the XXVI Popular Race, an event counting towards the Circuit a Peu Marina Alta, which will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026 and will feature an inclusive race.

The great local athletics festival returns to Ondara with the 26th edition of the Cursa Popular, a race that is part of the Circuit a Peu Marina Alta. The event is organized by the Ondara Athletics Club and the Sports Department of the Ondara Town Council.
In this edition, the race will maintain the urban route introduced last year and will celebrate the 3rd edition of the inclusive race before the main event. A spokesperson for the sports department has described the event as a regional sporting benchmark and has thanked the support of sponsors, the local police, Somesport, and the organizing club.

"The 10-kilometer route is more urban, more pleasant, and offers great proximity to the public."

Registrations for adults (not previously registered in the Circuit) will be open from Monday, May 11 until 12:00 PM on Friday, May 22 via the Somesport website. For children in Ondara, a circular will be distributed in schools, although they can also register online.
The 10-kilometer route runs through areas such as El Prado and Verger Street, combining the urban center with sections through the municipal area. The final stretch will run along Dénia Street to the historic center, with the finish line on General Bosch Street. The mythical climb of Torre Carrals, a demanding but lively segment cheered on by the public, is also maintained.
The day will begin at 4:30 PM with the lower categories (from pre-barrufets to cadets) and the inclusive race. The main race for adults will start at 7:00 PM from Doctor Fleming Avenue. The organization expects nearly 1,000 runners in the main race and about 500 participants in the school races.
Regarding services, bib collection will take place on the same Saturday from 3:00 PM for minors and from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM for adults. A cloakroom and bicycle storage service will be available in the finish area, as well as showers in the pavilion and municipal swimming pool to facilitate visitors' enjoyment of the day in the town.
