The accident occurred late in the afternoon for reasons that have not yet been disclosed, although no hypothesis is ruled out. According to initial information, the victim was foreign, although no identification documents were found among his belongings.
The mayor of the town, Arturo Poquet Ribes, visited the scene and stated that "it is an area where the ecological path runs, which is fenced with a wooden barrier. Therefore, it seems that this person jumped this safety barrier and fell. In principle, the individual was alone. Investigations are underway to find out what finally happened," explained Poquet.

He also noted that the area "has quite a lot of people and there are usually no accidents like this, we hope it doesn't happen again."
Several eyewitnesses who were nearby at the time stated they saw him "jump and throw himself from the top of the cliff."
Local police, the Civil Guard, and health services were dispatched to the scene. A fire brigade unit was also mobilized, although their intervention was ultimately not required.
The Civil Guard has taken charge of the investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the fatal fall. Cala de l'Advocat is part of Benissa's rugged coastline, an area with several stretches of cliffs and rocky terrain that can be unstable in some places.
