The swift action of the Calp Local Police officers has saved the life of a 65-year-old resident who was in cardiac arrest at her home, located in the Canuta de Ifach urbanization. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the woman without a pulse and immediately proceeded to administer a shock with the semi-automatic external defibrillator (AED) they carried, as well as performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers.
Thanks to this intervention, they managed to revive the woman. Shortly after, health personnel arrived at the scene, including a medical team from a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance and another from SAMU. The paramedics stabilized the patient and transferred her to the hospital in Dénia for more comprehensive care.
This action highlights the importance of Calp as a heart-safe town. The municipality has implemented a cardiovascular protection system with fixed defibrillators in strategic locations and mobile units, in addition to providing rigorous training to its local police officers in resuscitation techniques.
