The construction of Dénia's second health center, located on the plot on Miguel Hernández avenue, faces a new delay and will not be carried out during the current term. The plan is for construction to begin in the next term, and the total cost has increased significantly, from the initial 4.15 million euros to 7.15 million.
According to the Generalitat's budgets for 2026, the allocation for the center's facilities is only 150,000 euros. The main investment has been postponed and will be primarily materialized between 2027 and 2029, with 2 million for 2027, 3 million for 2028, and another 2 million for 2029. The center's opening is therefore expected in that last year, although without firm guarantees.
This infrastructure has had a complicated history. Initially, the responsibility for its execution fell to Marina Salud, the health concessionaire until February 2024. Despite promises, the company never carried out the construction, leaving the task to the Conselleria de Sanidad, which must now assume it with public funds.
The plot where the center will be located, on Miguel Hernández avenue, near the future National Police Station, had to be closed as a temporary parking lot in the spring of 2025 for archaeological surveys. Previous reports indicated the possible existence of important Roman remains, which led to modifications in the police station's project.
