Following a festive day marred by uncivil incidents, the council has issued a statement on social media to denounce the events. Vandalism included the destruction of urban furniture, the theft of tables, chairs, and tents, uprooted traffic signs, and overturned garbage containers. Additionally, the abandonment of belongings and waste by attendees was reported.
“"It is regrettable that we ourselves are dirtying and degrading the place where we live."
The governing team has expressed its disappointment upon confirming that those responsible for these acts are local residents. The Local Police have already opened an investigation to identify the culprits and will apply the law with maximum firmness.
Measures include significant economic sanctions, in accordance with the Municipal Coexistence Ordinance. The Town Council reminds that damaging or removing road signs is not just a prank, but a crime typified in article 385 of the Penal Code, which can lead to prison sentences and endanger the lives of drivers and motorcyclists.
The seriousness of the events has led the council to consider suspending the remaining festive events if uncivil behavior does not cease. The message is clear: without respect, there will be no party. The governing team will not allow the majority of residents to pay the consequences of the actions of a few.
The statement concludes with a defense of public workers, calling it undignified that they have to bear the consequences of these irresponsible acts. The Local Police have issued a strong warning: whoever cannot live in society should stay home, seeking to guarantee the safety and enjoyment of the festivities, but not at any cost.
