The festive program will kick off this weekend with the celebration of the Premis 25 d’Abril and the Salvador Soria Painting Contest at the Centre d’Art Taller d’Ivars. The official start of the festivities will be marked by the traditional Proclamation Day, featuring parades, the proclamation in the Basilica, and the “chupinazo” from the City Hall, followed by musical performances.
One of the most anticipated moments will be Friday, April 24, with the Coronation of the queens, an event that will lead into an intense festive program. On Saturday, April 25, the Day of the Offering will be held, with the traditional delivery of flowers to the patron saint.
On Sunday, April 26, Puríssima Xiqueta Day, the central day of the festivities will take place, with a solemn mass, mascletà, and the solemn procession. This day will also feature one of the most emotional moments with the lowering of the patron saint's image and the traditional singing of the Salve, acts deeply rooted in local tradition.
The program will continue on Monday, April 27, with the Day of the Riberer, dedicated to honoring this traditional figure, followed by the Day dels Fadrins on Tuesday, April 28, with popular activities such as the paella contest, the humorous parade, and the Youth Night.
Bullfighting events will take center stage from April 29 to May 1, with bull runs, heifer releases, and children's activities, while on Saturday, May 2, the Day de les Anyades will be celebrated, featuring a giant paella, music, and intergenerational activities. The festivities will conclude on Sunday, May 3, with the Day de la Huitada, which will bring the final touch with religious acts, mascletà, and a closing musical show.
During the festive program, Violet Points will be installed on several days, especially during night events, with the aim of strengthening prevention and ensuring safe festivities. The Benissa City Council invites residents and visitors to participate in these festivities, which represent a display of the municipality's roots, tradition, and festive character.
