Plaza España was transformed into the “Plaza de los Libros” last Saturday, offering a meeting point for reading, creativity, and citizen participation. Driven by the Municipal Library in collaboration with the City Council, the fair exceeded expectations in its first edition, both in terms of public attendance and the involvement of the municipality's cultural and social fabric.
From early morning, a festive and family-friendly atmosphere set the pace for a day that included book signings, creative workshops, and activities for all ages. Puppet making, bag and bookmark creation, as well as personalized ex-libris design, coexisted with board games, face painting, and a photocall.
One of the highlights was the storytelling session based on The Little Prince, which gathered numerous children, reinforcing the educational and participatory nature of the event. Additionally, artisanal pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven were offered, adding to the day's appeal.
The fair featured over fifteen local and nearby authors who signed copies throughout the morning. Publishers, bookstores, and cultural entities also participated, along with artists who performed live painting, enriching the proposal with various creative disciplines. The event was the result of a collective effort, with the involvement of the educational community and the collaboration of volunteers from the municipality.
“"The neighborhood involvement and the municipality's potential to host cultural initiatives of this type are very positive."
“"It is important to bring reading closer to citizens and turn the library into a cultural engine open to the municipality."
The cultural day concluded in the afternoon with a concert from the VII Godelleta Chamber Music Cycle, held in the City Hall Assembly Hall for the benefit of Payasospital. With this first edition, Godelleta strengthens its cultural offerings and lays the groundwork for a fair that aims to consolidate itself as a benchmark in the La Hoya de Buñol-Chiva region.
