The Xàtiva City Council plans to begin works on the Raimon Center for Cultural Activities (CRAC) before summer, thanks to a one-million-euro subsidy from the Diputación de Valencia for the rehabilitation of the Royal Monastery of Santa Clara.

Xàtiva's proposal received the highest technical score among the 63 projects submitted, which allowed it to secure the largest subsidy provided within the Valencian Heritage Recovery Plan promoted by the provincial corporation.

"This recognition by the provincial institution highlights the solidity and quality of a strategic initiative for the city, combining heritage recovery with the creation of a benchmark cultural space."

Thanks to this subsidy, the council expects to start the works soon, as the contracting process is well advanced. This will accelerate the launch of a long-demanded project in the locality.

"This subsidy indicates the high quality of this project. We will have a benchmark cultural center designed by two of the best Valencian architects."

The planned intervention includes the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Santa Clara complex, respecting its historical and heritage values, adapting it to new uses linked to contemporary culture, with spaces for exhibitions, performing arts activities, and stable cultural programming.
The City Council points out that this subsidy granted by the Diputación contrasts with the decision of the Generalitat Valenciana, which has unilaterally canceled the subsidy linked to this project, in addition to initiating proceedings to claim the full return of the nearly 400,000 euros already invested. Faced with this situation, the Xàtiva City Council has already submitted the corresponding allegations to defend the continuity of the project and the validity of the actions carried out.
