The Xàtiva City Council has confirmed the imminent start of works for the future Raimon Center for Cultural Activities (CRAC) at the Royal Monastery of Santa Clara, despite uncertainty caused by the Generalitat Valenciana's funding withdrawal.

This definitive push comes after the local proposal was recognized as the best in the entire province within the Heritage Recovery Plan of the Diputación de València. The technical solvency of the project has allowed Xàtiva to secure the maximum subsidy of one million euros, ensuring that the contracting process continues without delays.
The city's strategy to circumvent the cuts from the Generalitat Valenciana, which has withdrawn its subsidy and demands the return of part of the already invested capital, has been based on technical excellence. The design, signed by architects Carlos Campos and Ramon Esteve, obtained the highest score among the 63 projects submitted to the provincial corporation.

"The quality of the project is the best defense against political obstacles. The center will not only recover historical heritage but will also project the city outwards by linking it to the figure of a universal Xativí like Raimon."

For its part, from the Diputación de València, the first vice-president has reaffirmed the commitment to this intervention of «memory and freedom». She has lamented the Generalitat's stance and has urged other administrations and private entities to join a project that is already a symbol of cultural democracy.
With funding secured and allegations presented against the Consell's claim for funds, Xàtiva is preparing to open the doors of Santa Clara to a comprehensive rehabilitation that will respect its historical value while adapting it to the needs of the 21st century.
