Xàtiva City Council has definitively awarded the rehabilitation works for the Real Monasterio de Santa Clara to establish the future Raimon Centre for Cultural Activities (CRAC).

The project, with a budget of 9,327,737 euros (VAT included), has been awarded to the UTE Estudio Métodos de la Restauración SL - Torrescámara y Cía de Obras SA. Work is anticipated to commence from September.
The project, designed by architects Ramón Esteve and Carlos Campos, aims to restore and enhance one of Xàtiva's most emblematic heritage buildings, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC). The council explains it will be transformed into a leading cultural space with Valencian and national reach.
The comprehensive intervention will respect the historical and architectural configuration of the monumental complex, adapting it for new cultural and civic uses. The future Raimon Centre for Cultural Activities will house the legacy of singer-songwriter Raimon and is conceived as a space for the creation, research, and dissemination of Valencian culture and its musical and literary heritage, hosting exhibitions, conferences, concerts, and educational programs.
The recovery of historical spaces will involve integrating them into a functional route connecting the monument with the city's cultural life. The main access will remain via Montcada street, preserving and restoring significant heritage elements.
The project benefits from diverse funding, including a one-million-euro grant from the Provincial Council of Valencia as part of the Valencian Heritage Recovery Plan. This aid was awarded after Xàtiva's proposal received the highest technical score among 63 submitted projects.

"Today is an important day for Xàtiva because the governing board has awarded one of the most significant works in recent years, which will allow us to begin the work next September."

the city's mayor · Roger Cerdà
The mayor highlights the dual aspect of the intervention: "With this action, we will be able to rehabilitate and enhance the Real Monasterio de Santa Clara and, at the same time, achieve a leading cultural centre for our territory, the Raimon Centre for Cultural Activities."
