The Director General of Public Health, Begoña Comendador, has visited the Xàtiva Public Health Center to monitor health services, promoting community health and evaluating breast cancer prevention results in the Xàtiva-Ontinyent Health Department.

This center carries out its work in the Xàtiva-Ontinyent Health Department, which covers 63 municipalities and 17 basic health zones, with functions focused on health promotion, prevention, and surveillance. During the visit, Comendador held a working meeting with the center's team to analyze the main lines of action, with special attention to the development of community health.
One of the key points addressed was the evolution of basic health councils, structures aimed at fostering citizen participation and coordination among different agents. Currently, the department has 15 councils established, following joint work between Public Health and Primary Care since 2024.

"The professionals of the Xàtiva Public Health Center actively participate in these spaces and contribute to the development of initiatives for health promotion and disease prevention at the local level."

Furthermore, the Director General highlighted the center's planned participation in the Genovés Health Fair, to be held on April 26, as an example of institutional collaboration. The meeting also served to evaluate the data from the department's Breast Cancer Prevention Unit corresponding to 2025.
According to the analyzed data, participation reached 78.2%, a result that, according to Comendador, responds to measures such as equipment renewal, program reinforcement, coordination with the Lluís Alcanyís Hospital, and the consolidation of professional teams. This visit is part of the Ministry of Health's strategy to strengthen public health and highlights the role of the Xàtiva center in developing health actions at the territorial level.
