Nearly 1,300 households integrated into the COR Waste Consortium composting program avoided the generation of 572 tons of organic waste during 2025 across five Valencian regions.

This figure is equivalent to the load of 60 garbage trucks, representing a significant saving in waste collection, transport, and treatment processes. The program, which covers the Vall d'Albaida, la Costera, la Canal de Navarrés, la Safor, and the Valle de Ayora, allows for the daily utilization of 1,560 kilograms of organic matter to create natural compost.
The initiative continues to gain followers, with 213 new families joining during the last year. In the la Costera region, Xàtiva stands out with 58 participants, while Canals adds 53. Additionally, the COR maintains 30 active composting programs in various educational centers within its area of operation.

"Domestic composting allows for direct action on one of the most important fractions of household waste, preventing it from reaching collection and treatment systems."

The resulting material, which exceeds 114 tons annually, is used by the residents themselves in their orchards and gardens, replacing commercial fertilizers. In this way, what was once considered waste is transformed into a useful resource for the home, consolidating a more sustainable and efficient management model in the territory.
