The events occurred on the night of March 26, when the 112 Emergency Center of the Valencian Community received multiple calls reporting a car with a caravan driving in the opposite direction on the A-33, near La Font de la Figuera.
Following the alert, the Traffic Operations Center mobilized patrols from the Xàtiva and Alzira detachments to locate the vehicle. Finally, the driver was intercepted on the A-35, within the municipality of Moixent, after completing the dangerous journey.
The investigation revealed that the man drove approximately 27 kilometers in the wrong direction, at night, and with a trailer attached, circumstances that significantly increased the danger for other road users. Furthermore, the driver, of Spanish nationality, tested positive for drugs in the initial test conducted at the scene, pending laboratory confirmation.
The Guardia Civil has reminded that such behaviors pose an extreme risk on the road and can lead to prison sentences and the withdrawal of driving licenses, in addition to emphasizing the importance of not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
A Road Accident Investigation Team has opened proceedings against the driver as the alleged perpetrator of two road safety offenses: reckless driving and driving under the influence of drugs. The proceedings have been referred to the Investigating Court on duty in Xàtiva.
