The Director General of Public Health, Begoña Comendador, has visited the Xàtiva Public Health Center to oversee activities and coordinate health policies within the Xàtiva-Ontinyent Health Department, which covers 63 municipalities and 17 basic health zones.

During her visit, Comendador held a working meeting with the center's staff, where strategic lines were reviewed to strengthen community health and improve cooperation between different care levels. A key point was the progress in implementing basic health councils, intersectoral bodies that seek to foster citizen participation and coordinated action in local health.
Since early 2024, Public Health and Primary Care have been working together to expand these structures throughout the territory. Currently, the Xàtiva-Ontinyent Department already has 15 councils established. The Director General highlighted the active involvement of the center's professionals in these forums, which promote initiatives to prevent diseases and encourage healthy lifestyles in collaboration with local councils and social groups.
As part of this collaborative effort, the center will participate in the Health Fair to be held on April 26 in Genovés, an example of institutional cooperation to bring public health closer to citizens. Additionally, the most recent data from the department's Breast Cancer Prevention Unit, corresponding to 2025, were reviewed, showing a participation rate of 78.2%, thanks to technological updates and organizational reinforcement.
This visit is part of the Ministry of Health's roadmap to strengthen the public health network and acknowledge the important work carried out by territorial centers for the benefit of the population.
