Despite the unstable weather and moments of rain recorded during several events on Saturday, the planned program was fully celebrated. This demonstrates, once again, the deep roots and devotion that Torrent feels for its patron saint.
The celebrations, organized by the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Forsaken and the clavarios of 2026, with the collaboration of the Torrent City Council, have once again made the city a benchmark of Marian tradition and fervor.

The most anticipated events began on Saturday afternoon with the traditional field mass held at the doors of the Parish of San Juan Bosco. Hundreds of people gathered to participate in a particularly emotional Eucharist in honor of the Mare de Déu dels Desamparats. The rain finally respected the transfer of the Virgin from the Parish of San Juan Bosco to the Parish of the Assumption of Our Lady, accompanied by hundreds of devotees who filled the streets of Torrent.
On Sunday, the main day of the festivities, began early in the morning with the traditional general ringing of bells coinciding with dawn and the Angelus, announcing the big day dedicated to the patron saint. In the afternoon, the Solemn General Procession toured the historic center, where the mayor deposited the staff of command at the feet of the Virgen de los Desamparados, perpetual mayor of Torrent. The festivities culminated with a night mascletá in the Plaza Mayor.
The celebrations continue tonight, Monday, May 11, starting at 9:00 p.m., with the transfer of the Virgin from the Parish of the Assumption of Our Lady to the Parish of San Luis Bertrán. During the journey, improvised altars will be set up and petals will be thrown from balconies. The Virgin will make a special stop at the Torrent City Council, where she will be received by the representatives of the festivities and the mayor, and also at the Colegio de La Purísima before reaching her destination.
The festivities will conclude tomorrow, Tuesday, May 12, with the traditional besamanos (kissing of the hand) to the image of the Virgen de los Desamparados in the Parish of San Luis Bertrán, from approximately 10:00 a.m. until the evening mass, which will be in suffrage for the deceased confreres.
