Silla Presents 2026 Latin Sail Exhibitions Calendar

The Latin Sail Association of Silla has unveiled the dates and poster for the exhibitions that will highlight tradition in l'Albufera.

The Associació de Vela Llatina de Silla has officially presented the calendar and poster for the exhibitions to be held in Silla during 2026, within the framework of the XXI Premi Lliga Diputació.

This event aims to highlight the tradition and cultural heritage linked to traditional sailing in l'Albufera. The presentation ceremony was attended by various personalities who underscored the importance of preserving this ancestral practice.
The president of the Associació de Vela Llatina de Silla emphasized the collective effort to keep the tradition alive and the need to transmit this heritage to new generations. Likewise, the director of the Parc Natural de l'Albufera highlighted the close relationship between Latin sailing and the natural environment, stressing the importance of conserving both the ecosystem and the traditions that are part of its identity.

One of the most relevant interventions was by the conservation manager of the Oceanogràfic de València, who gave an informative talk on the conservation of the noble pen shell (Pinna nobilis), an emblematic Mediterranean species currently in critical danger of extinction. He explained the work being carried out for its recovery through conservation programs, captive breeding, and protection of surviving specimens.
The deputy for Tourism and Sports closed the event, emphasizing the cultural and tourist value of Latin sailing as a unique element of the territory. He highlighted the importance of supporting initiatives that contribute to preserving traditions and promoting tourism respectful of the natural environment. These exhibitions will allow the public to get closer to traditional sailing and consolidate Latin sailing as a living element of Silla's cultural heritage.
The program will begin on May 30 with the first exhibition, continue on June 27 with the second event, follow on July 18 with the third exhibition, and culminate on August 1 with the traditional Prova del Crist, which will close the cycle of exhibitions planned for this season in the municipality.
