Agents from the Provincial Brigade of Immigration and Borders of Valencia initiated investigations after receiving testimonies from South American women. These women reported the existence of a network that exploited their extreme vulnerability to force them into prostitution under conditions of absolute control.
The deception began with the promise of dignified employment, as many victims went to the properties believing they would work as masseuses. Once inside the brothels, the reality was radically different, as they were subjected to exhaustive 24-hour surveillance. The exploiters used both mobile devices to keep them located and video surveillance camera systems installed in the homes themselves to ensure the continuity of the criminal activity.
The discipline imposed by the organization was strict and based on economic coercion and violence.
The detainees managed accounting ledgers where they recorded economic fines against the women for arbitrary infractions, such as not making presentations to clients, being absent from the home without prior justification, or even not performing cleaning tasks. In cases where the victims did not meet the demands of the network leaders, they were expelled from the premises through the use of physical force.
During the operation, the National Police conducted simultaneous raids on the brothels in Torrent and Catarroja, in addition to intervening in a private home located in the town of Alfafar. In these inspections, agents seized a real-looking blank-firing revolver, various doses of cannabis prepared for sale, cash, and abundant documentation detailing the income obtained from both sexual services and the distribution of narcotics to clients.
The intervention has led to the arrest of seven women and three men, who are accused of alleged crimes related to prostitution, belonging to a criminal group, and public health offenses. With this operation, a significant point of exploitation in the province of Valencia has been eradicated, guaranteeing the safety of the 14 women who have been rescued from the control of this criminal network.
