The deadline to renew the validity of the Recuperem València transport card, intended for residents of municipalities affected by the DANA storm on October 29, 2024, concludes next Thursday, April 30.

This process is completely free and automatic, as renewal is carried out by simply validating the card. So far, 246,146 cards have been distributed among citizens in the 31 municipalities included in this initiative.
The Generalitat launched this card in February 2025 for those affected by the DANA. It allows beneficiaries to travel for free on Metrovalencia, Cercanías, EMT, Metrobús, and regional buses until December 31, 2026.
The card is valid for residents who have applied from towns such as Sedaví, Paiporta, Massanassa, Alfafar, Llocnou de la Corona, Benetússer, Picanya, Catarroja, Algemesí, Beniparrell, Aldaia, L'Alcúdia, Albal, Guadassuar, Riba-roja de Túria, Alaquàs, Sot de Chera, Riola, Chiva, Loriguilla, Cheste, Catadau, Pedralba, Utiel, Llombai, Montserrat, Godelleta, Quart de Poblet, Xirivella, Benicull de Xúquer, and Gestalgar, as well as the districts of València Castellar-Oliveral, Forn d'Alcedo, and La Torre, as detailed by the autonomous administration.
To speed up the card update, users can choose from three free options. The simplest is to validate the current card, which will renew it until December 31, requiring no additional steps. Users simply need to continue using it normally and keep it properly to avoid loss or damage.
The second option is via an Android mobile phone. Users must install the Recarga SUMA application or use a phone that already has it installed. Then, the card must be read with the mobile, and the application will indicate if there is a pending renewal operation. Finally, the operation must be accepted to update the card's validity. The application installation and renewal are free, and one mobile can be used to update several cards. If the card does not update or no pending operation appears, the incident can be reported to the Autoridad del Transporte Metropolitano de Valencia (ATMV) by providing the card number.
The third option can be carried out at tobacconists or authorized points of sale, or any usual SUMA ticket sales point (tobacconists, kiosks, or authorized shops). Users only need to ask for the card to be read. The renewal will be done automatically and free of charge. This service should not incur any cost or require the purchase of any transport ticket.
Cards not updated by any of the indicated procedures will cease to be valid from April 30, so it is recommended to check the expiration date and update if necessary. For any queries, contact the ATMV via its website (atmv.gva.es).
In case of loss or theft, a new card will need to be requested. If the city council does not provide this service, the request must be made through the ATMV website. The new card will be sent by postal mail to the applicant's address. When making the request, all cards associated with the applicant's name will be automatically blocked to prevent misuse by third parties. Those applying for the card for the first time must also make the request through the website.
In 2025, the Recuperem València ticket was the fourth most used on Metrovalencia. It began distribution in February, and its effective presence was in March. In total, last year 6,505,206 movements were registered with it, representing 7.07% of the total network.
