After the DANA storm, the Paiporta Velodrome once again hosted the Autonomous Speed Skating Championship on Track. The objective of this initiative is to promote sports among the population and strengthen local entities and associations dedicated to this discipline.
Over the weekend, the town welcomed numerous sprinters and long-distance skaters from the Valencian Community in categories such as Alevín, Infantil, Juvenil, and Senior. The competition was organized by the Paiporta Speed Skating Club and the Valencian Skating Federation, in collaboration with the Paiporta City Council's Sports Department and the Paiporta Municipal Sports Service (SMD).
The Paiporta Speed Skating Club excelled in the championship, achieving a total of 18 medals: five gold, seven silver, and six bronze. This result improves their final qualification for the Spanish Championship in various categories. The award ceremony was attended by the mayor of Paiporta, Vicent Ciscar; the Sports Councilor, Susana Moreno, and the General Administration Councilor, Miguel Ángel Ortiz, along with other members of the municipal corporation.
“"This championship has demonstrated the quality and talent of our athletes and has once again placed Paiporta at the center of autonomous speed skating, where our club has improved its results for the next national season, a result of the effort and desire for self-improvement they have shown every day."
The Paiporta City Council's Sports Department has actively collaborated in the organization of this sporting event, reaffirming its commitment to promoting social cohesion through the values and healthy habits that sports foster. Councilor Susana Moreno emphasized that this event is the result of joint work with the Paiporta Speed Skating Club and represents an impetus to position Paiporta as a sports benchmark at local and autonomous levels, opening new development opportunities for the municipality's clubs and entities.
