The May Plenary Session of the Paiporta City Council has given the green light to the tender for the works of the new IES La Sénia. This agreement, approved unanimously, involves a total budget of 16,383,043.12 euros and will allow the contracting and subsequent execution of a project on which the council has been working for years.
The councilor responsible for monitoring the Edificant and Reconstruction and Urban Mobility plans, Alejandro Sánchez, highlighted that “this progress consolidates the commitment to improving the municipality's educational infrastructure and to launching a modern center for the students of Paiporta”. For her part, the Councilor for Education, Olga Sandrós, pointed out that this investment is “necessary to guarantee that students have an adequate center, with dignified spaces adapted to their educational and coexistence needs”, considering it “a fundamental step towards quality public education”.
The new center, which will have capacity for 1,100 students, will feature 20 ESO units, 6 baccalaureate units, and 7 vocational training cycles with 14 training units, in addition to a cafeteria. In total, it will have 9,456 m² built and 6,790 m² of patios and sports courts. The center's design prioritizes energy efficiency, taking advantage of natural light, promoting ventilation, and reducing the need for artificial air conditioning. Furthermore, a solar control system with oriented louvers is planned to optimize light entry and improve acoustic protection.
The project, framed within the Pla Edificant, also includes sustainability criteria through the installation of photovoltaic panels to reduce energy consumption. The mayor of Paiporta, Vicent Ciscar, concluded that “with the approval of the tender, we take a very important step that brings us closer to the construction of a school that will be a benchmark in our municipality and responds to a historic demand”, emphasizing the work “with rigor and constancy” to make it a reality as soon as possible.
