The agreement is part of the European project CLYMACT: Creating local alliances of youth and municipalities for climate action, funded under the CERV-2024-CITIZENS-TOWN-NT program of the European Union. This alliance will strengthen institutional, social, and cultural ties, fostering the exchange of experiences and best practices in municipal governance and sustainable development.
The mayor of Mislata, Carlos Fernández Bielsa, highlighted that “this agreement consolidates Mislata's pro-European stance and opens new collaboration opportunities to develop innovative projects that directly benefit citizens, especially young people”. Key objectives include promoting cultural, educational, youth, and sports exchanges, as well as joint actions on environmental sustainability and European cooperation.
Concurrently, the City Council is advancing its European projection by securing funding for three international projects focused on child projection and participation, and joining a new European initiative for active democracy. These projects, with 100% direct European funding, will manage a total of 190,000 euros, primarily allocated to municipal technical staff expenses and the hiring of a specialized profile in childhood matters.
Through participation in such European programs, the Council has been able to finance significant projects, including the adaptation of the Hospital street macroparking, the redevelopment of Tomás Sanz and Mestre Palau streets, the digitalization of the administration, and the comprehensive rehabilitation of the town hall.
