Gymnast Marina Cortelles from Silla has secured three European titles with the Spanish rhythmic gymnastics team at the European Championships held in Varna, Bulgaria.

Gymnast Marina Cortelles, a resident of Silla, has been crowned a triple European champion with the Spanish rhythmic gymnastics team at the 2026 European Championships held in Varna, Bulgaria. Cortelles, alongside fellow Valencian Lucía Muñoz and the rest of the national team members, has successfully defended last season's title.
The Spanish squad, coached by Alejandra Quereda and Ana María Pelaz, has reaffirmed its continental dominance by clinching three gold medals: in the all-around competition, the five-ball final, and the mixed exercise of three hoops and two pairs of clubs. The team, comprising Inés Bergua, Andrea Corral, Marina Cortelles, Andrea Fernández, Lucía Muñoz, and Salma Solaun, achieved a total score of 57.650 points in the all-around, clearly surpassing Russia (53.450) and Israel (53.350).
During the final apparatus day, Spain's superiority was further cemented. In the five-ball final, Spain scored 29.150 points, ahead of Belarus and Israel (tied at 27.550). The third gold medal was secured in the mixed exercise, with a score of 28.100 points, outperforming Russia (27.000) and Israel (26.300).
This achievement marks a new milestone for Spanish and Valencian rhythmic gymnastics, with the notable participation of Cortelles and Muñoz. Their presence further strengthens Valencian talent within a team that remains a European powerhouse in the sport.
In the individual disciplines, Alba Bautista finished thirteenth in the all-around and sixth in hoop and seventh in clubs, while Daniela Picó ranked seventeenth. With this triple victory, Spain concludes the Varna European Championships with a historic performance, continuing the successful trajectory established in Tallinn 2025.
