The María Inmaculada school in Alfafar has completed the recovery of its school garden, which was severely damaged by last year's DANA storm, thanks to a 4,595 euro grant from Fundación la Caixa.

This project, managed through the school's AMPA (Parents' Association), was carried out between October 2025 and March 2026. The actions undertaken have allowed for the repair of damages caused by the storm and the transformation of this space into a more accessible, inclusive, sustainable, and functional environment for students.
Improvements include the restoration of damaged areas, the installation of new urban gardens, cultivation tables, planters, and outdoor furniture. Additionally, the irrigation system has been completely renovated to ensure the proper functioning of the garden.
The project also involved the incorporation of topsoil, seeds, and seedlings of vegetables, fruits, and aromatic plants. To facilitate organization and maintenance, a storage shed has been added.
According to information provided by the school in Alfafar, the school garden has become a fundamental pedagogical resource for students from early childhood education to 4th year of ESO (secondary education). It has a particular impact on students with specific educational support needs, functioning as a sensory, therapeutic, and experiential learning tool.

Thanks to the support of Fundación 'la Caixa', we have been able to bring life back to a space much loved by students and the educational community. It's not just about recovering a garden, but about sowing hope, learning, and well-being.
