Manises Hospital, located in L'Horta Sud, has successfully conducted its first fecal microbiota transplant, an innovative therapy for treating severe intestinal infections.

Manises Hospital (Horta Sud) has successfully performed its first fecal microbiota transplant. This innovative medical procedure aims to treat severe and recurrent intestinal infections by restoring the patient's bacterial flora.
The intervention was carried out through collaboration with Sagunto Hospital (Camp de Morvedre) and with the support of the transplant coordination of the Conselleria de Sanitat. According to the Generalitat, this initiative represents a significant advancement in incorporating advanced therapies to combat complex infections.
A multidisciplinary team comprising professionals from internal medicine, infectious diseases, digestive health, microbiology, clinical analysis, hematology, and quality departments at Manises Hospital participated in the procedure. The Sagunto Hospital contributed with its microbiology and digestive health services.
The manager of Manises Hospital, Dr. Beatriz Gómez, highlighted the importance of incorporating innovative, evidence-based therapies to enhance care quality. Meanwhile, the manager of Sagunto Hospital, Dr. Ana Peiró, emphasized how this agreement strengthens coordination among public healthcare centers.
The Manises health department, to which the hospital belongs, provides healthcare services to over 216,000 people across fourteen municipalities, integrating into the València-Oest Interdepartmental Health Group.
