The Compromís councilor in the Picassent City Council, Leticia Hernandis, has resigned from all municipal positions for personal reasons, marking the beginning of a new phase for the party.

The councilor served as spokesperson for the municipal group and was responsible for the areas of Commerce, Employment, Workshop Schools, Training, Market, Economic Promotion, and Local Development Agency. The resignation comes at a time of change within the Valencianist coalition in the municipality, which is using the announcement to advocate for the opening of a new political and organizational stage with an eye on the 2027 municipal elections.
Compromís per Picassent has thanked Hernandis for her work over the past years, highlighting that she carried out her responsibilities "with dedication and honesty" and understood politics "as a service to the citizens." Hernandis was also the mayoral candidate in the last elections and the number one on the joint list between Compromís and Podem. The coalition also recognized former councilor and spokesperson Vicent Enrique Pérez for his contribution to the project from a "sustainable, consistent, and sincere" perspective.
The resignation occurs in a context of tension with parts of the local business community. Just weeks ago, the Association of Merchants and Services of Picassent publicly requested the mayor, Conxa García, to replace the councilor in charge of the Commerce Department, considering the relationship had deteriorated. The entity denounced a lack of dialogue and a loss of participation in organizing commercial promotion campaigns and initiatives, as well as disagreements regarding the management of events like the Fira del Comerç i de la Tapa.
In a statement, Compromís acknowledges that situations have arisen that have caused internal and external unease, "damaging the project's image and causing disappointment." The party admits its share of responsibility, apologizes, and commits to regaining trust and strengthening ties with local entities.
The Valencianists believe that the upcoming changes highlight the need to open a new chapter, announcing a process of political and organizational renewal to approach the 2027 elections with a "cohesive, useful, exciting, and prepared" project. They defend the principles of municipalism, Valencianism, and progressive policies, warning of the importance of halting the advance of the right and far-right in the municipality. A renewal process will be launched for militants, independents, and sympathizers.
