The Paiporta City Council has completed the handover of 35 plots in the municipal urban gardens, marking the start of a new phase for this space of coexistence, sustainability, and proximity agriculture.

After suffering significant damage during the October 2024 floods, Paiporta's urban gardens are entering a new phase with the incorporation of new users. The Department of Environment has worked on cleaning, conditioning, and improving the infrastructure to return this main green space of the municipality to the citizens.
In the assembly held at the end of May, the procedures for the transfer of municipal plots were formalized. The new awardees will receive support from the municipal technical team, ESPAI, and the managing company, Fermenta, to bring the land into operation.
The Councilor for the Environment, Óscar Pellicer, has emphasized that the garden is "much more than a cultivation area," but rather "a meeting point, coexistence, and environmental learning for many people in the municipality." He highlighted that the recovery of the 35 plots is "great news" that allows "to continue advancing towards fully active urban gardens" and thanked the municipal technicians for their efforts.
For his part, the mayor of Paiporta, Vicent Ciscar, stated that "the recovery of the municipality is also built from the spaces that are part of the daily lives of the citizens." He concluded that seeing the urban gardens "return to activity, with new users and new projects, is a sign that Paiporta continues to move forward".
Recovery tasks include cleaning and clearing spontaneous vegetation that had occupied common areas. These works will also involve the participation of students from the municipal employment workshop. Furthermore, the reconstruction of the perimeter fencing, destroyed by the flood, has been completed thanks to a donation from the Red Cross, reinforcing the security of the enclosure.
The City Council plans to continue with improvements in the coming months. The next assembly, which will include a training session, will be held on June 27. Due to pending work and high demand, applications for new plots remain temporarily closed.
