Protest in Paiporta against the handling of the cold drop, with banners and protest slogans.

Victim associations and social entities have protested in Paiporta, twenty months after the cold drop catastrophe, under the slogan “Mazón to prison”.

Victim associations and dozens of social entities have protested in Paiporta with the slogan “Mazón to prison”, demanding the removal of the former president's immunity and his appearance in the Catarroja court. This mobilization, which has marched through the streets of Paiporta for the first time, aims to pay tribute to the victims and those affected, recalling that the municipality was ground zero of the catastrophe, with the highest number of fatalities.
The demonstration also seeks to highlight and denounce the state of deterioration in the municipality, with pending urban projects such as 22 kilometers of sewage system to be redone, poorly maintained sidewalks, the CEIP l’Horta in prefabricated modules, and the unusable auditorium and municipal swimming pool.

"They didn't even have the dignity to look up and they mocked the people who intervened. They are very polite to the media, but not to the victims."

Rosa M. Álvarez · Victim's widow
Rosa M. Álvarez denounced the PP's behavior in the last plenary session, while Dolores Ruiz stated: “For me, Mazón is guilty. I was resting after lunch peacefully when my children left, and by six in the afternoon, my two sons, my husband, and the three dogs were gone. If the judges had lost what I have lost, there would have been justice quickly.” Ruiz concluded: “I will fight until I die.”

"This is the twentieth demonstration we have held. We are against Mazón's immunity, and we still don't know the truth, nor have responsibilities been taken by the Valencian government. We will continue fighting until the end against the negligence of an inept government that did not live up to the Valencian people."

Toñi Garcia · Victim association representative

"Paiporta is the town with the most fatalities. Residents died while the head of residences, Susana Camarero, left the CECOPI to attend an awards ceremony. We continue to demand accountability, including political accountability. These people have not assumed their responsibilities and are part of the government."

Mariló Gradolí · Flood affected person

"Today we are at ground zero. She also denounced that key individuals were unable to participate in the investigation committee and requested that Mazón's immunity be revoked. Furthermore, she noted that much remains to be done for the reconstruction of Paiporta and that they have not received sufficient aid from the administrations."

Elisabeth González · Paiporta survivor
The demonstration, which began in the Plaza de la Iglesia de Sant Jordi, concluded in the Plaza Mayor with the reading of manifestos and the performance of the song El riu no té culpa by Alejandro and Maria Laura.
