The competition brought together 205 swimmers from eight clubs in the Valencian Community and was decided in a very close finish between the Torrent team and C.N. Xàtiva. The Autonomous Clubs Cup was held during the weekend of May 9 and 10, with venues in Castelló, Petrer, and Torrent, which hosted the Second Division competition, according to the Valencian Community Swimming Federation.
Barracudas Torrent reached the last two series tied with C.N. Xàtiva at 1,013 points after 44 events. Promotion was decided in the 4x100 medley relays, where the Torrent club won in both female and male categories ahead of Xàtiva and C.N. La Costera.
With this double triumph in the relays, the local team closed the final classification with 1,189 points, ahead of C.N. Xàtiva, second with 1,173, and C.N. La Costera, third with 1,130. Completing the classification were Vila-Swim Fondistas C.N., C.N. Villena Alto Vinalopó, C.N. Valencia Máster Sedaví, C.N. Dénia, and C.N. Picassent.
The promotion will allow C.N. Barracudas Torrent to compete next season in the highest autonomous category, where they will face clubs such as C.N. Xàtiva, Piscis-Mislata, C.E. Eldense, C.N. Neptuno-L’Alcúdia, C.N. Valenciano, and C.N. San Vicente.
The victory also has added value for the Torrent club as it occurred at home, in an event where the Parc Central pool became the decisive setting for the promotion. The Municipal Sports Foundation of Torrent has also highlighted the title of Barracudas Torrent and its promotion to the First Autonomous Division after the competition held at Parc Central.
