The Association of Merchants, Services, and Market of Picassent, representing around a hundred businesses, has sent a letter to the mayor, Conxa García, requesting the resignation of Commerce Councilor Leticia Hernandis. According to the association, the relationship with the councilor during her three-year term has been "practically non-existent," impacting key campaigns such as the commerce voucher, the Tapas Fair, and the Christmas Fair.
Hernandis' initial resignation last week opened a new scenario, but her subsequent regret and retraction have caused concern within the group. "We have nothing against Leticia Hernandis, but if she hasn't involved us or done anything in these three years, I don't think the situation will change now. We are apolitical; we don't care if she stays in government or not, but in the commerce sector, we need a valid interlocutor," explains the association's president, Vanesa Fortuny.
The association denies Hernandis' claims in the council meeting, where she suggested having met with them and established a roadmap. "The only one who spoke was the mayor Conxa García, who had to mediate on several occasions," recalls Fortuny, noting that relations with previous councilors from different parties had not presented problems.
The collective emphasizes that while they don't have a bad relationship, the lack of collaboration and the outsourcing of campaigns without their input are detrimental. "We know we cannot work with her; she has done nothing for commerce. We made our position clear with the letter we sent requesting her resignation, and we maintain it," they conclude.
