The Aldaia City Council has announced it will request a Local Security Meeting with the National Police and the Civil Guard. The aim is to analyze the latest crime data and, specifically, the impact that thefts registered at the Bonaire Shopping Center have on statistics attributed to the municipality.
According to the council, thefts occurring at Bonaire are counted as crimes committed in Aldaia. The local administration believes this situation may distort the real image of security within the municipality's urban center.
This perception has intensified with the latest published statistics, comparing the first quarter of 2026 (with Bonaire operational) to the first quarter of 2025, when the shopping center was closed due to damage from the DANA storm. The City Council argues this comparison explains the recorded increase, as it includes crimes from a large commercial area that attracts visitors from many municipalities.
