Paterna City Council has declared war on feces and urine in its three summer pools, announcing fines of up to 5,000 euros to curb uncivil acts.

The Paterna City Council has announced stricter measures to combat uncivil acts of defecation and urination in municipal pools. Mayor Juan Antonio Sagredo has communicated via social media that surveillance will be increased and offenders will be severely fined for endangering public health.
Sagredo explained in a video that this "fashionable nonsense" became prevalent last year in summer facilities, forcing councils to close them and incur extra disinfection costs. "In Paterna, we will not allow it," stated the mayor, "and therefore, to prevent it, we will install more cameras and police surveillance, and anyone caught will be fined 5,000 euros, in addition to facing criminal charges".
Indeed, this Sunday saw the inauguration of Paterna's three pools: Carretera de Manises, Valterna Nord, and La Coma. These facilities will be open to the public until September 6th, offering a refreshing and accessible option to combat high summer temperatures without leaving the city. The council hopes that no day will have to be interrupted by such an infraction.
