The Ministry of Justice, Transparency, and Participation has concluded accessibility improvement works at the judicial headquarters in Paterna. This initiative, with an investment of 270,630.35 euros, aimed to guarantee access to the judicial facilities, adapting the spaces to the needs of all users, especially those with reduced mobility or functional diversity.
The works included the renovation of twenty restrooms in the building, distributed across the ground, first, second, and third floors – both public and private – and the detainee restrooms in the basement. The comprehensive renovation of the Legal Aid Service on the first floor, the installation of magnetic loops for hearing-impaired individuals in courtrooms, accessible counters, and elevators, as well as improved signage and the installation of security doors in the basement detainee restrooms, were also part of the project.
Additionally, visual and tactile warning strips have been installed at the start of staircases and along the accessible route. Vertical signage throughout the building has been adapted with accessible signage in braille and high relief.
In the restrooms designated for detainees, security has been enhanced with the installation of anti-vandal toilets and security doors with an air extraction zone at the bottom, made of perforated steel sheet.
Furthermore, addressing the needs raised by the Illustrious Bar Association of Valencia, the space of the Legal Aid Service has been reorganized with the creation of two closed offices, to offer greater guarantees of confidentiality to users.
All actions were developed in a planned and sequential manner, aiming to minimize disruptions for both the staff working in the building and the citizens who visit the judicial headquarters daily.
Through this intervention, the Ministry of Justice, Transparency, and Participation reaffirms its commitment to accessibility and the continuous improvement of judicial infrastructures in the Valencian Community.
