Burjassot City Council has opened the registration period for the project Lo bonito de la vida, an initiative that uses therapy dogs to stimulate the cognitive abilities of people with Alzheimer's.

Following the success of the pilot phase carried out last year, the council has decided to consolidate this proposal. The main objective is to foster communication and memory in patients in a safe environment, while providing guidance and psychological support to family members and primary caregivers to manage the burden associated with the disease.
The project, which will be carried out in collaboration with the Acavall Foundation, will take place at the Díaz Pintado Socio-educational Center. The sessions are designed to be dual: while the patients undergo therapy with the animals, family members will receive specialized attention from psychologists and therapists.
Those interested in participating can submit their application from May 18th until the 31st of the same month. The process can be completed online through the municipal Electronic Office or, if assistance is needed, by calling the number provided for appointment management.
To be eligible, applicants must be registered residents of Burjassot, have a diagnosis of Alzheimer's or a similar dementia, have a caregiver to accompany them in the process, and not have any other day-care resources recognized under the Dependency Law. The program, which has a capacity for 25 people, is scheduled to begin in September.
