The aim is to provide shelter from the high temperatures expected for summer. The works, with a budget of €118,090.95, are being carried out thanks to aid from the Provincial Council of Valencia, granted under the call for aid for natural disaster prevention.
Burjassot will feature three new shaded areas, located in the parks of Condesa Lluch, Escalante street, and Pizarro street. These areas will also have three new cold-water fountains for cooling off. Additionally, the Council will expand the hydrant network with six new fire hydrants in the most vulnerable areas of the municipality.
In the parks, sail-type structures will be installed over some of the children's play equipment to create shaded zones, allowing children to enjoy the parks even during the hottest months. The installation of cold-water fountains in each park is part of the development of the Agenda 2030, promoting sustainable management and responsible water use.
The hydrant network, designed to provide abundant flow in emergencies, will be expanded with six new units. These new water outlets will be located on Virgen de los Desamparados street (number 39), Mariana Pineda street (corner with Pintor Goya), Maestro Lope street (opposite Plaza Federico García Lorca), Pintor Velázquez street (numbers 30 and 60), and in Plaza Sequera.
With these improvements, Burjassot strengthens citizen protection during periods of extreme heat, offering shaded spots and water to take refuge from high temperatures.
