The Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in València launches its 'Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga' cycle next Thursday, April 9, with a concert featuring soprano Serena Sáenz and the ensemble Vespres d’Arnadí.

The performance, which will take place at the Teatre Martín i Soler, will offer a program dedicated to the most celebrated works by composers such as Händel, Rameau, and Vivaldi. This initiative is part of a collaboration with the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical (CNDM) for the fifth edition of the cycle.
Barcelona-born soprano Serena Sáenz returns to Les Arts after her successful portrayal of Pamina in Simon McBurney's production of The Magic Flute, which saw record attendance in 2024. On this occasion, she reunites with the Catalan historicist ensemble Vespres d’Arnadí and its director, harpsichordist Dani Espasa, to perform a luminous repertoire from 18th-century European musical theater.
The program includes arias of incomparable beauty such as “Sposa son disprezzata” from Vivaldi's opera Bajazet, and “Tornami a vagheggiar,” one of the most famous pieces from Händel's Alcina. Audiences will also enjoy the Suite de Les Indes Galantes, Rameau's opera-ballet, known for its brilliant orchestral passages from French Baroque music.
In addition to the performance by Serena Sáenz and Vespres d’Arnadí, the 'Les Arts és Barroc i Música Antiga' cycle will continue with other notable concerts. On April 23, soprano María Espada, accompanied by Manuel Minguillón on the archlute, will perform at the Iglesia de San Nicolás. On April 30, the Teatre Martín i Soler will host a program dedicated to Alessandro Scarlatti with the ensemble Il Fervore and soprano Jone Martínez. The cycle will conclude on May 30 with the renowned ensemble Les Épopées and mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïcik.
Tickets for all concerts and recitals in the cycle are available through Les Arts' usual sales channels: box offices, telephone line (96 197 59 00), and its official website.
