The former vice-president chose the Orriols neighborhood, known for its community activism and housing demands, to kick off her pre-campaign. From there, she combined her return to the political arena with key messages about issues concerning citizens.
“"The Orriols neighborhood has many very active entities, with great organization and a lot of community work. Here, people are up in arms because it is obvious that without dignified housing, there is no dignified life."
During her speech, Oltra recalled the cuts to the Valencian inclusion income by the Consell, a measure that was one of her flagship policies when she was Minister of Social Services. She also referred to the upcoming expiration of the moratorium against rent increases, regretting the lack of a majority in the Spanish Congress to extend it.
Regarding the possibility of an electoral convergence of all parties to the left of the PSOE in Valencia, Oltra stated that she does not like to take a stance on other parties, but expressed confidence that there will be a pact among political forces that, like Compromís, truly seek real change for the citizens.
The former vice-president thanked the public for their support, confessing that the affection and strength shown have sustained her during this time. At the event, Oltra was accompanied by the current spokesperson for Compromís in the Valencia City Council, Papi Robles, Spanish Minister Pablo Bustinduy, and deputy Alberto Ibáñez, among other members of the party.
