Hundreds of people are forming long queues in central Valencia for the extraordinary regularization of migrants, seeking to obtain residence permits and vulnerability certificates.

Since early morning, hundreds of people have gathered around Valencia City Hall, forming a long queue that stretched through Arzobispo Mayoral, La Sangre, and San Vicente streets. All of them carried folders with their documentation, hoping to begin the procedures for the extraordinary regularization launched by the Spanish government.
The day, marked by intense sun, is the first day enabled for submitting the necessary documentation to obtain a residence permit. However, misinformation is present among many attendees, as the deadline for these procedures is June 30 and they must be carried out at immigration offices or some post offices, always by appointment.
Many of those present are seeking the vulnerability certificate, a key document issued by Social Services. Individuals like Saruj and Anuj, who have been registered in the city for nine months, hope to obtain this certificate to continue the process. However, the reality is that today they will only be able to submit an application to the general registry, addressed to Social Services, to request it.
The main queue, which moves slowly, contrasts with a second, shorter and faster queue, intended for people seeking information. Municipal officials explain to those interested that they must fill out an application and join the main queue. Among those waiting are Tania, a Cuban woman who has been here for four years and seeks to regularize her situation to work legally, and Dorlin, a mechanical engineer from Honduras who arrived six months ago and is looking for a job opportunity in his profession.
Around 10:55 AM, officials and municipal police established a cutoff in the queue, indicating that no more people could be attended to beyond that point. This decision caused some discomfort, but the authorities explained that the procedure can be carried out at other general registries with the same validity, helping those affected to find addresses on their mobile phones.
