The call for proposals for the 2027 Fallas graphic campaign in València has sparked controversy within the design sector, as it excludes professional associations, mirroring a similar situation in 2026.

The relationship between the design sector and the València City Council remains strained. In 2026, the selection process for the Fallas graphic campaign, one of the city's most visible, excluded the Associació de Professionals del Disseny de la Comunitat Valenciana (ADCV), the Asociación de Profesionales de la Ilustración Valenciana (APIV), and the Asociación de Empresas de Comunicación Publicitaria de la Comunitat Valenciana (ComunitAD), following their criticisms of how such commissions were managed.
A year later, the scenario appears similar. The Local Government Board has invited design professionals and companies to create the graphic campaign for the 2027 Fallas de València. This process does not involve the professional associations of the sector and delegates the appointment of several selection committee members to the Interagrupación de Fallas and the Gremio de Artistas Falleros.

"It is evident that we are facing revenge for their demands, and for having defended progress towards a transparent and quality model that, since 2015, had achieved great results and international recognition for the festive posters. This involution has clear consequences, such as an abrupt decrease in participation and losing prestige for the commission and the image of the festival."

The selection of the person or company responsible for the graphic image of the Fallas will be carried out by a selection committee comprising the Fallas Councilor of the City Council, as president, a designer/illustrator, two individuals “with professional trajectories suitable for the call” appointed respectively by the Interagrupación de Fallas and the Gremio de Artistas Falleros, and a representative of the Junta Central Fallera. There are no references to the Consell Valencià del Disseny, which previously held some of these positions.
According to a municipal spokesperson, the call entails a total multi-year expenditure of 18,029.00 euros (VAT included), corresponding to the budget years 2026 (6,050 euros) and 2027 (11,979 euros). The deadline for submitting applications will be ten calendar days from the day following the publication of the terms on the València City Council's edict board. Once the application period has concluded, the selection committee will hold the evaluation session within a maximum of ten days.
