The presentation event will take place at 6:30 PM in the Assembly Hall of the Museu de Belles Arts de València. It will feature the participation of the book's authors and a colloquium with Andrés Goerlich, great-nephew of the Valencian architect to whom one of the chapters in this volume is dedicated. Admission is free until full capacity is reached, thanks to the collaboration of the Museu de Belles Arts de València and the Fundación Goerlich.
Edited by the Design Foundation of the Valencian Community, this second volume was written by Eugenio Viñas, Lidia Caro, Clara Sáez, and Vicent Molins, with art direction by Ibán Ramón. It expands the project initiated in 2024 with new chapters that address key episodes, figures, and objects in the construction of Valencian design from a plural and contemporary perspective.
Scenes of Valencian Design offers a fragmentary approach to design as a cultural, economic, and social phenomenon. Through ten new scenes, the book delves into the dynamics that have shaped an ecosystem recognized for its productive capacity, international projection, and cultural density.
This volume incorporates new voices into the project, adding Clara Sáez and Vicent Molins to the initial team. The graphic concept, design, art direction, and layout are once again by Ibán Ramón, thus consolidating the visual identity of this editorial collection. The first volume has received international recognition, such as the ADG Laus 2025 Silver Award and the Bronze Award at the ADCE Awards 2025, in addition to being a finalist in the recently announced ADCV Awards 2026.
Among the contents of this new volume are stories about the role of women in the history of the Nolla mosaic, figures such as Lola Castelló or architects Javier Goerlich and Rafael Tamarit, and milestones such as Espai Verd or contemporary phenomena from companies like Closca.
The book also explores stories linked to industry and popular culture, such as the trajectory of Rolser, the history of the doll factories in Onil (Famosa), or the design of the Valencian pilota, as well as a chapter dedicated to Cobi, the iconic character by Javier Mariscal.
The Design Foundation of the Valencian Community conceives this project as a tool to strengthen collective awareness of the strategic value of design. The presentation of the second volume is another step in consolidating this editorial line, which seeks to document, interpret, and project Valencian design from a contemporary perspective.
