The city of Valencia is hosting the 29th Congress of the Spanish Society of Hand Surgery (SECMA), an event that brings together over 600 international specialists to discuss the latest advances in the treatment of hand pathologies.

This important meeting, taking place at the Congress Palace from April 22 to 24, is led by a team of doctors specializing in hand surgery. The main objective is to exchange knowledge and analyze the most recent techniques to improve patients' quality of life.
This year's edition stands out for its strong international character, with the participation of six invited scientific societies. These include the Italian Society of Hand Surgery (SICM), the Portuguese Society of Hand Surgery (SPOCMA), the European Wrist Association (EWA), the Latinoamerican Wrist Association (LAWA), the Ibero-Latin American Hand Surgery Group (ILA), and the International Wrist Arthroscopy Society (IWAS).
The scientific program includes pre-courses on wrist arthroscopy, arthroplasties, ultrasound, and peripheral nerve. Additionally, round tables are organized to address the main advances in the specialty, such as arthroscopy, arthroplasty, and emerging techniques.
The congress also hosts the XI National Congress of the Spanish Association of Hand Therapists (AETEMA 2026). This event brings together rehabilitation professionals for two training days with theoretical sessions and practical workshops, focusing on hand pathologies, peripheral nerve, pain, complex fractures, and clinical reasoning. The joint celebration of both meetings reinforces the multidisciplinary approach between surgery and rehabilitation, considered key for functional recovery and improving patients' quality of life.
The Hand and Upper Limb Surgery Unit of Quirónsalud Valencia Hospital is a benchmark in the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of pathologies affecting the hand, wrist, and upper limb. This team of highly experienced professionals works in coordination with other specialties such as Rehabilitation and Rheumatology to offer personalized care with the best clinical outcomes. The unit stands out for applying advanced and minimally invasive surgical techniques, such as arthroscopy or ultrasound-guided surgery, which facilitate faster and less aggressive recovery for the patient.
