The First Section of the Provincial Court of Castellón has upheld the sentences for crimes against public health and belonging to a criminal group. These penalties are the result of a plea agreement between the accused and the Prosecutor's Office during the trial held this January.
Two of the convicted individuals, considered the leaders of the organization, received the highest sentence: six and a half years in prison and fines of one million euros. For them, the custodial sentence will be replaced by expulsion from national territory after serving two years in prison.
A third person involved, responsible for transporting the drugs, was sentenced to four years and one month in prison, in addition to a 400,000 euro fine. Two other gang members, who rented properties to store the substance, received six-month prison sentences. The sister of one of them was sentenced to two months as an accomplice for helping to pay the rent.
The sentence establishes that the convicted individuals were part of an organization operating in the provinces of Valencia and Castellón, with assigned roles such as leadership, obtaining substances, transportation, or renting properties for the custody and preparation of drugs for sale.
One of the proven facts occurred on December 18, 2024, when one of the convicted individuals was intercepted by the National Police on the AP-7, between Valencia and Castellón, with seven kilograms of cocaine hidden in the trunk of his vehicle. The drugs had been placed shortly before by two other members of the organization, who were arrested the same day.
During home searches in properties located in the municipalities of l'Eliana and Valencia, various quantities of cocaine, utensils for its preparation, and money from its sale were found. The seized amount of narcotics would have reached a value of over 726,000 euros in the illicit market.
The sentence, which is final, orders the confiscation and destruction of the drugs, as well as the seizure of assets and instruments, such as vehicles, money, and telephones. These resources will be allocated to the prevention, investigation, and repression of drug-related crimes, in accordance with Law 17/2023 of May 29.
