The second race of the weekend at Circuit Ricardo Tormo had an eventful start, necessitating a restart. Following this incident, young Frenchman Paul Jouffreau took the lead, extending his advantage until a right front tire blowout forced him out of contention with ten laps remaining.
The lead then passed to Jordan O’Brien, but his off-track excursion allowed reigning champion Vittorio Ghirelli to take the lead and drive towards victory. Behind him, Garret Lowe and Nelson Piquet Jr. maintained their podium positions until the finish line. Piquet Jr., in his first European NASCAR weekend, scored his initial points after being involved in a multi-car accident in the first race.
In the Open category, victory went to Swiss driver Thomas Toffel, who completed a double win at the wheel of his Chevrolet Camaro. The event featured Valencia CF footballer Arnaut Danjuma as the Grand Marshall, who gave the classic command “Drivers, start your engines!!” to begin the race.
In addition to NASCAR, the Spanish Truck Racing Championship also drew significant public attention. Portuguese driver Eduardo José Rodrigues had a perfect weekend with four victories, demonstrating the mechanical superiority of his MAN truck. He outpaced Josy Vila and Jorge Vila, who completed the podium in the various races.
The Solidaridad Sobre Ruedas Foundation delivered eight more vehicles as part of its campaign to assist those affected by the DANA, bringing the total to 580 vehicles delivered since November 2024. During the event, the foundation received a check for 22,072 euros from MT Helmets, resulting from a solidarity helmet sales campaign.
Circuit Ricardo Tormo will once again welcome fans on May 16 for the third edition of the Gran Premio Velas Maratón, a double running race of 4 and 10 kilometers that will take place on the Grand Prix track at sunset.
