These guides, a result of the joint work of the general directorates of Primary Care and Public Health, are now available on the Ministry of Health's website. They cover key topics such as nutrition, physical activity, emotional well-being in women, self-care for caregivers, smoking cessation, and maternal education.
“"At the Ministry, we have a firm commitment to defending and promoting preventive policies because prevention is health, and group actions promoted from Primary Care generate collective health. Precisely, a healthy population is a good indicator of a modern society."
The Minister of Health emphasized that Primary and Community Care plays a vital role in health education for citizens, as it is the patient's first contact with healthcare and where professionals are closest to the patient and their family and social environment. The initiative seeks to facilitate this educational work and promote community actions for a healthier society aware of the importance of lifestyle choices.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of providing health professionals with guides and protocols to standardize and unify criteria for community health group activities. These guides are part of the Community Health Strategy, implemented in October 2023, which involves over 1,600 professionals.
The presentation of these guides coincided with the XIX Health Fair of Valencia, organized by the Valencian Students' Association (AVEM). The event, under the motto 'Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures,' brought together over 400 students from various health sciences. Volunteers set up 35 thematic tents in the Turia Gardens, offering activities and information on various health areas.
“"This fair continues to exist, after 19 years, because we believe in prevention, education, and health production, but also because health cannot depend on reacting when something fails, but on building it, day after day, with a more conscious, informed, and capable society of taking care of itself."
