The weather change announced by Aemet is now a reality in the Valencian Community, with rain and mud already present. Forecasts indicate that the situation will worsen, with the peak of the episode expected in the next few hours.
Warnings for heavy rainfall, which could be accompanied by thunderstorms, have been activated for various areas of the Valencian territory. Aemet has detailed which areas will be most affected and when the highest intensity of rain is expected.
Sunday, April 12, began with weak and widespread rains that have gradually gained intensity. In the city of València, precipitation has been intermittent during the morning, but it is expected to intensify towards the night, especially in the south of València and Alicante, according to ValènciaWeather.
Aemet has established four time slots between Sunday and Monday, April 13, for the Valencian Community. The most affected area will be the south of València and the north of Alicante, with increasing rain intensity that will last until early Monday morning. Precipitation will concentrate in the south from 8:00 PM on Sunday.
In the city of València, the heaviest rains are expected from eight in the evening on Sunday and during the early hours of Monday. Due to suspended dust, the rainfall is leaving a trail of mud and dirt, especially visible on vehicles.
Yellow warnings for strong and persistent downpours, which could exceed 20 liters per square meter in one hour, are active on the southern coast of Alicante and inland, from nine at night on Sunday until five in the morning on Monday. In the province of Castellón, yellow warnings have been activated for wind gusts that can exceed 80 km/h, with pre-emergency due to northwesterly winds. These warnings will extend from eight in the evening on Sunday until midnight on Monday to Tuesday, April 14, in the north of the province, and until five in the afternoon on Monday, April 13, in the south.
